Potato Boom
The 19th century and the industrial revolution had brought an upturn within the potato growing. At the potato exhibition of Altenburg in 1875 2644 different types of potatoes were shown. In 1850 the consumption per head was 120 kg in Preußen. For comparison: in 1995 the consumption was about 73 kg in Germany.
The potato could make its way through the human feeding.
