"Iam not an expert eater", Theodor Fontane writes (1819-1898) in a letter from 1885, though he didn't go for half portion, he admits at other places.

"I have a sophisticated imagination of the holiness of the meal: immediatly after a sleeping human there is an eating human."

On Fontane`s menues there were potatoes on four from seven days:

peeled potatoes, fried potatoes, cut or as a whole.

mashed potatoes, green potatoes, sour potatoes.
