Pleasant Plant

The cult plant of the indians came on different ways and within several stages to Germany. In the beginning of the 16th century the first potatoes had reached the garden of pleasures called "Lustgarten" of the landgrave Wilhelm IV. of Hessen-Kassel. About that time the electoral prince Christian I. of Sachsen threw a glance of that odd specimen.

Roughly 1594 the potato shall be putting down roots at the electoral court of Berlin. Other sources recorded the years 1649 and 1651 as the beginning of the Brandenburgian potato carreer.

Finally, in 1756, the exotic tuber made its way as a useful field fruit.
